Nagai Susumu's photo exhibition "Peace in Myanmar" is currently being held.

The first photo exhibition is being held in the gallery attached to the Uji Wazukaen Lab on the second floor of Yamashiro Bussan's head office building, which began full operation at the end of July .

When Nagai was a fourth- year university student, he traveled around the world and took photos of smiling children during his travels. He exhibited the photos he took at a photo exhibition and won an award, which led to him becoming a photographer.

After that, I worked as an elementary school teacher, but from April to September this year I went to Myanmar and took the photographs shown in this exhibition.

As you know, two years ago the military staged a coup in Myanmar, and the country is still in the midst of a fierce civil war. In the midst of all this, we held a calligraphy workshop with children at a local Japanese language school. This time, we are exhibiting mainly the photos we took at that time.

The theme of the photo exhibition, "Wa" (Peace in Myanmar), conveys the meanings of peace and harmony.

Major wars have occurred in Myanmar, Ukraine, and Palestine in recent years.

There are many reasons why war never ends.

None of the photos were satisfactory. Nagai-san takes photos with the hope that seeing children's smiles will bring about change.

As Yamashiro Bussan, which runs the "Children's Future Project," we are grateful to be able to hold Nagai's solo exhibition.

We hope that as many people as possible will come, learn about Nagai's activities, and support them.
