■ “Tea for chestnuts” created by a tea house A blend of leaf roasted tea and stick roasted tea
Sweet chestnuts have a fluffy texture and a simple, gentle taste. Along with sweet potatoes, chestnuts are also popular fall flavors. Developing ``chestnut-specific tea'' was also a theme we had never tackled before.
The tea that I decided would go well with chestnuts was hojicha. This is also not a simple hojicha, but a particular blend. A blend of the refreshing-tasting ``leaf hojicha'' and the sweet and rich ``bar hojicha'' roasted to different degrees.
This results in a tea that brings out the natural and delicate sweetness of chestnuts. Of course, it is also recommended for sweets and snacks using chestnuts, such as Mont Blanc, chestnut yokan, and kurikinton. Japanese green tea is not a beverage that you drink with added sugar or milk like coffee or black tea. Japanese tea is perfect as an accompaniment to sweets because it contains less excess sugar.
